Abstract

ABSTRACT An effective and efficient warehouse layout design is really needed by all companies. The purpose of the warehouse layout is to get the most optimum product arrangement to make it easier for operators to find and minimize displacement distances. The storage layout of goods has an important influence in one factor of the warehousing system. The storage layout of goods has an important influence on one factor of the warehousing system. That is because this factor has the greatest influence that determines the quality of warehouse services. PT Pratiwi Putri Sulung (PPS) is a company engaged in the Oil and Gas sector for its infrastructure equipment, specifically as an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Contractor). Projects are important because the majority of business activities carried out in the company are in these activities. PT PPS warehouse has a U-shaped pattern layout with a length of 36 meters and width of 16 meters, where the flow of goods going in and out through the same door. Warehouse activities are assisted with tools to facilitate workers in storing goods, in the warehouse for tools such as hand pallet, stairs and cranes, forklifts. But due to the number of goods that have not been arranged and ordered does not make the goods cover the aisle, making forklifts can not enter the warehouse to carry out loading and unloading activities and making retrieval is hampered, while the forklift movement for loading & unloading goods is only in front of the warehouse with carry out activities to reduce goods from trucks to the yellow area, namely the loading and unloading areas and vice versa. The process of storing goods becomes disrupted and placed in any place, even though the goods have been set will be stored in a location that has been determined. With the loading and unloading areas that are still in the same area, namely the yellow area, it makes it difficult for employees to retrieve goods. The misappropriation of goods by employees often results in the addition of wasted time. Just as if an employee is loading into trucks, there is often a mistake in moving goods, and it takes time to double check and unload goods from inside the truck and out of the truck, then raise the items again. Delay in the collection of other goods also often occurs because of difficulties in moving inside the warehouse and selection of goods becomes difficult. The current layout of the warehouse and flow of goods has an existing utility room of 78.33% while the use of space utilization of 75.90% is used, for the utility area of the stacking block 88.33% for the placement of goods inside the warehouse facilities in the system according to the type. But if the goods start to arrive at the same time then the goods will pile up to wait on the shelf or in the stacking block on their respective types, the unloaded items are waiting to be moved to their respective crates and racks, then move to in a rack. The alternative improvement for PT Pratiwi Putri Sulung's warehouse is to replace the layout, by changing it to combine the block stacking and rack L and rack M in the middle of the warehouse, the proposed layout makes the block stacking into three parts namely part A, part B and part C valve . The types of goods in the warehouse are sorted using the ABC classification method to find out which items are included as fast moving, medium moving, and slow moving. After classifying the goods, the relationship between the shelves, with the activity relationship chart (ARC) method, can be seen with the facilities that have a close relationship with the layout of the facility. With the layout of the proposals, it can be seen that the proposed room has a percentage reduction. Keywords: room utility, ABC classification, ARC, AAD
