Abstract

ABSTRACT Dhia Nur Fauzi, Cost Analysis of Rice Distribution Using the ASM, RDI, and MODI Methods (Case Study of the West Java Regional Bureau of Logistics), Bandung, Transportation Management 2019. Distribution is a part of logistics, performing a fundamental function for a company. Distribution activities cost 46.5% - 58.6% of the total logistics costs and the remainder is a cost component in the inventory. This was also reinforced by Frazelle (2002) in the study of Distribution and Transportation Cost Analysis for the Cement Distribution Network with the Packing Plant (Case Study: PT. Semen Gresik (Persero), Tbk by Wahyu Rosita Madasari, that transportation is the most expensive logistical activity The costs are more than 40% of the total logistics costs. Perum BULOG, should have paid attention to the efficiency of distribution of its products. This study uses the ASM, RDI, and MODI transportation methods. Where this research aims to minimize the cost of commercial rice distribution conducted by the Public Corporation of West Java Regional Bureau of Logistics. From the results of data processing, it was found that by using the ASM method the optimal cost generated was Rp. 418,635,000, the difference of Rp. 21,079,000 with the cost of the existing conditions, which means it can reduce transportation costs by 4.7%. Then the RDI method succeeded in minimizing the cost to Rp. 423,600,000, difference of Rp. 16,114,000 with the cost of existing conditions, which means it can reduce transportation costs by 3.6%. While the MODI method produces a minimum cost of 417,220,000, a difference of Rp. 22,494,000 with the cost of existing conditions, which means it can reduce transportation costs by 5.1%. Of the three methods, the ASM method, and RDI do not need an initial solution to determine the optimal solution, different from the MODI method. It can be concluded that the MODI method is more efficient to minimize the distribution costs of the West Java Regional Bureau of Logistics Bureau.
