Abstract

ABSTRACT Inventory control is an activity carried out to keep raw material supplies available when large or small quantities are requested. Center for Environmental Health and Disease Engineering (BTKLPP) Class I Medan is an agency engaged in environmental health. One of the activities carried out at the agency is the inspection of non-drinking water such as wastewater, water bodies, and seawater. To do a water test, lactose broth is needed to grow the bacteria in the water. There is a condition that the stock of lactose broth media exceeds the demand for non-drinking water samples in 2021. This situation is caused by fluctuating market demand, so good inventory planning is needed. Therefore, this study aims to determine which inventory model is good for use in inventory planning for the following year. There are two inventory models considered in this study, namely the periodic review model and the continuous review model. Before the researcher uses the above model, the researcher first estimates the number of requests for 2022 so that they can find out the total minimum cost of inventory in the agency. Based on the calculation, the total cost of inventory according to company policy is Rp. 13,158,417 / year, the total cost of using periodic reviews is Rp. 5,037,724 while the use of continuous reviews is Rp. 5,099,629. The method chosen is periodic review because it has a minimum total inventory cost. Keywords: Inventory Control, Continuous Review System, Periodic Review system, Total inventory cost.
